Christian Ed & Youth Ministry

“Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ” ~Billy Graham

Goal:

To encourage the student’s personal relationship with the Lord as they navigate relationships in family, friendships, church, community, and in the world.

What we’ve done recently:

  • Support the Community by volunteering and donating items for the Daily Bread Food Pantry. Purchased gifts and baked cookies for Salvation Army Families. Raised funds for the Frederick Living Adopt a Grandparent Program. Volunteered for the Frederick Living Train Show.
  • Organized and participated in the annual Youth Mission Trip, where teens (ages 14-17) and leaders repair and clean homes for families in need.
  • Led youth events like Trunk or Treat, Vacation Bible School, Game Nights and weekly Youth Group (Thursdays).
  • Held fundraising events to supplement costs for the mission trip and youth programs like, Pamper Party, Dodgeball Challenge, Quart Jar sales, and Cookie sales.
  • Conducted outreach with churches and the community at large for collaboration on new events.
  • Communicated with St. Luke’s family and friends, learn needs and interests to develop new programs that will support and encourage growth in faith, personal, professional, hobbies and talents.
  • Invited subject matter experts to offer guidance on topics like special needs instruction for Sunday school teachers and college planning for teens.

“May we find our life and worth in Him today and then, in joy, do all that He has prepared in advance for us to do.” – HOPE International

Goal:

To spread God’s word throughout our community by different forms of outreach and to nurture communication and connection within St. Luke’s

What we’ve done recently:

  • We gathered a group together from our congregation to go to Maryland for a Stephen Ministry’s workshop.  There, we learned more about the Stephen Series, a program that could greatly benefit our members and our community by learning how to provide one-on-one care and support for those who are hurting.
  • Last month we created 1,000 door hangers and with the help of our members, hung them on the doors in our local neighborhoods with an invitation to join us at our Christmas services.

Events Task Force Committee

“May we find our life and worth in Him today and then, in joy, do all that He has prepared in advance for us to do.” – HOPE International

Goal:

To spread God’s word throughout our community by hosting events and activities for the general public.  These events create opportunities to share God’s message & St Luke’s mission, introduce our congregants to visitors and strengthen fellowship among members & those community partners who volunteer.  Some events are intended as fundraising and others are required to ensure financial solvency only.  These opportunities include but are not limited to: Junefest Annual Flea Market, Annual Golf Outing and Community Day.  New event ideas are always welcome and encouraged.

Why is the EVENTS TASK FORCE a great place to share your gifts?

Some people hold back from volunteering/being part of a committee because they are only available certain times of the year or have gifts they aren’t sure applied to committees…but that’s what makes the EVENTS TASK FORCE perfect!
• Every event touches a variety of gifts: organization, graphic design, marketing, community connections, financial planning, setup, cleanup, food prep, creative idea generation, and following directions
• Basically, no matter your age…whether you are an extrovert or an introvert…whether you like doing paperwork or doing something physical…if you like crowds or working alone…if you have lots of innovative ideas or just want to join and be assigned a task…EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO THE EVENTS TASK FORCE for the success of these events and the glory of God.

Mission Committee

“14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.  James 2:14-17 (NKJV)”

Goal:

To use our hands for serving GOD’S People
